TAKING LEAVE....

I was saving this photo for when I went in to hospital. Its my favourite thing to do, to have sand running through my toes. So I thought I would have this picture on my blog to remind me that it won't be long before I'm back running in the sand....

Well I went to the private hospital yesterday (filtered coffee in the waiting room, how good is that), expecting a day within the next week to be going in to have my operation. First of all I was told that the consultant wanted some more X-rays. I haven't actually had any since my fall last year.

After having this done I was about to sit down and enjoy my cup of black filtered coffee., when this incredibly gorgeous man came up to Math and I, shook our hands, and introduced himself as my consultant, he really was gorgeous.

Anyway I won't bore you with long medical jargon, in fact I'm glad Math was with me, because after the words 'major complications', I think I just stopped listening and gazed into the consultants big blue eyes. (And very long eyelashes, were is the fairness in that?). The gist of it is that I can't have my operation at the private hospital, because when or if, they do the surgery, they will need all sorts of things that only the large specialist theatres have. He wants to do more test on my bone density and an MRI scan, to see how damaged the bone is. He also needs to confer with another specialist about how and if my surgery can take place. This is all due to the complexity of damage from the car accident. If they can do it , it will entail two major operations being done at the same time. He told me to be prepared for the long haul, whilst they try to sort things out.

Now this guy is one of the top guys in the world in this field. He had just returned from Fiji, where he had been giving lectures on the said subject. (Wouldn't it have been great if I could have escorted him as one of his exhibits!!!!!). So I do know I'm in the very bestest of hands, and that I'm lucky to have the two top specialist dealing with me, yet I'm a little shocked and need to rearrange some of my plans.

Therefore I am going to take leave from doing my posts for a while, I will pop round and see you when I can. The first thing I'm going to do is get myself somehow down Somerset to see my special mum, and visit friends and other family while I can.

So take care whilst I'm away........
